“After struggling with a host of seemingly unrelated medical issues including acne, bloating and brain fog, Helena was the first medical professional who connected the dots and was able to diagnose the issues. I was highly recommended to see her by a friend in the healthcare industry who’d said Helena had changed her life. Through consistent work together and a plethora of tests, Helena was able to identify a previously undiagnosed parasite I’d had for 7+ years whilst delivering tailored, quality advice and support for rebuilding my gut microbiome. Her knowledge is unparalleled. The best part is that instead of just prescribing some things and sending you on your way, she gives you a great big binder full of information relevant to your body and what it’s going through. I recommend Helena to anyone who’ll listen - working with her has been the single greatest investment in my health and I have a happier, healthier body to prove it!” ~ Nikita
Do you suffer from…
Hi, we are a Naturopathy clinic located in Melbourne. We specialise in helping people with Blastocystis species infections, parasite infections, yeast overgrowth, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and digestive problems.
Parasites are abnormal inhabitants of the gastrointestinal tract that live off and have the potential to cause damage to their host. Parasites have complex life cycles and routes of transmission. Most parasites are acquired in their cyst state (eggs or ova) before decystation within the body into active organisms.
Acute infections can involve diarrhoea, fever, nausea and abdominal pain or cramps; however these symptoms don’t always occur. If left untreated, chronic infections can cause intestinal lining damage, intestinal permeability, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, malabsorption, gastritis, indigestion, fatigue, skin disorders, joint pain, low immunity, thyroid problems or other health issues.
The intestinal parasite Blastocystis species is a protozoan, which is a single-cell organism that is larger and more complex than bacteria. These types of parasites are capable of multiplying within the host. Blastocystis species infections occur directly via the faecal–oral route, with direct person-to-person transmission uncommon. Other common intestinal parasites include Dientamoeba fragilis, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia intestinalis, Cryptosporidium parvum, Endolimax nana, Entamoeba coli, cestodes (tapeworms), trematodes (flukes), hookworms, and various nematodes (roundworms).
Intestinal parasite infections mostly occur from contaminated food, contaminated water, poor personal hygiene, sexual transmission and travellers to tropical countries. Parasite infections can be symptomatic and asymptomatic in people.
Intestinal parasites and Blastocystis species are pathogens that do not belong in your body. In our experience there are always symptoms that people experience when they have a parasite infection. These symptoms are not necessarily gut symptoms and disappear once the parasite has been eliminated. Unfortunately a lot mainstream Doctors tell clients that parasites can be normal and don’t need to be treated, or use medications that are proven to be unsuccessful. Parasites living in your body drain your energy and can affect your health in many different ways
In order for true healing to take place you need to remove the parasite, whilst working on healing your gut. Our natural approach is specific dietary changes, foods, probiotics, herbs, nutritionals and bowel cleanses that have been proven to help remove intestinal parasites, rebalance gut microflora and restore your gut.
Depending upon what the parasite is, what your health goals are and whether you’d like a totally natural approach or would prefer to combine this alongside medication for faster results is your choice. Either way, our Naturopaths are happy to work with you and your Doctor for the best treatments available to eradicate intestinal parasites from your body once and for all.
